We asked AI assistants 25 real car-buyer questions about Birmingham, Alabama. The kind buyers actually ask: best place to buy a used truck, most trustworthy dealer, where to find a clean SUV under $25K. Then we counted which of 40 local dealers got named in the answers.

Methodology.
The questions
25 natural-language questions a real Birmingham car buyer would ask an AI assistant: by vehicle type, budget, trust, financing, and trade-in scenarios. Same 25 questions for every dealer, asked in June 2026. This index used a 25-question battery. The ongoing monthly service runs 50.
The scoring
Each dealer's visibility combines how often AI answers name them, how they're described when named, and how machine-readable their web presence is. Named counts are shown raw: times named out of 25.
The field
40 used-car dealers across the Birmingham metro, including Pelham, Vestavia Hills, and Hoover. Review counts and ratings pulled from Google the same week the questions were run.
Why it matters
A typical AI answer names 5 to 8 stores. There is no page 2. Buyers who start with AI never see the dealers that aren't named, no matter how good their reviews are.
